Tutorials

There's actually a group of libraries in Canada that are working together to create a repository of database tutorials that everyone can use. You can find the collection here  --from the Infopeople Web 2.0 class   https://dspace.ucalgary.ca/handle/1880/43471 (submitted by M.Laun/Pasadena)

ELAC: Our library has the modified version of the Online Tutorial (called Searchpath and designed by the Western Michigan University.) This project

was done as part of the information competency pilot program for our library and was funded by our college before we knew about the basic

skills funds available from the State.  You can view our online tutorial at:  http://www.elac.edu/departments/library/library/elaclib/  (Choonlee Rhim)

.

Pasadena:  We have always adapted tutorials and that has been so much easier than creating one from scratch.  Here are ours and of course, you are welcome to "steal" what you like: http://pasadena.edu/library/guides.htm  We are also developing another one attached to our website for general use.  Many places like TILT at University of Texas and Searchpath will allow you to adapt with permission.

Antelope Valley College:  We offer four tutorials: catalog, EBSCOhost, journal article, and basic research.  I recently revised part of the EBSCOhost tutorial and the journal tutorial.  The others are due for revision as well.  However, they do give an idea of what we've done here building tutorials from scratch.  Each tutorial has a quiz either at the end of the tutorial (EBSCOhost), or in the lower frame for the older tutorials.  Here's the link to the tutorials: http://www.avc.edu/studentservices/library/instruction/tutorialhome.htm  (submitted by C.Burrell cburrell@avc.edu /Antelope Valley College)
