  • I redesigned our Library Instruction course and taught in a computer classroom for a couple of years and then hybrid and then converted it to WebCT and taught for several semesters. Last year and this year, I am mentoring another librarian to teach it online. Shelley Blackman is teaching it this semester. To support the WebCT in a more informal way, I created a blog where I posted homework hints, news, fresh additions to my lectures. I also was able to upload all the student's final power points and grades this way easily in a non-passworded environment. Jennii Rameriz when reviewing the course last year incorporated much of the class blog into the WebCT course and I retained the blog as a personal blog. This is the blog as I use it now http://www.joychase.blogspot.com and this was my last course  post :  http://joychase.blogspot.com/2005_08_01_joychase_archive.html  Others can be found in my archives. It was important while using the blog for the class to include personal news sometimes so that the student feels there is a person behind the blackboard/whiteboard.  I have also created other blogs such as this for Diversity in Academic Libraries-North http://www.dial-n.blogspot.com/ however, it is not very active. I created another blog for a communications series at my college, too.
